Ciao, Milan! As expected, this S/S16 was revolutionized by the gorgeous Italian fashion. Honestly, trying to choose my favorite collections, let alone pieces, was practically impossible. This post will be a long one, so, grab a cup of hot chocolate (or a cold drink if you're in 42 degrees, like me), and enjoy peeking into some of the most luxurious fashion houses creations. My one nit pick from these shows was mainly about the models... some of them looked sickly thin, something that I do feel needs to be changed in these fashion shows. If a collection is Ready-To-Wear, it is unlikely that someone buying the clothes will be this thin. So, why not put a more realistic customer on the catwalk? This factor isn't slamming MFW, in any way, but, on a whole, fashion weeks do need to consider the real customer, and who they are, before they choose their models.
Les Copains
Now, if I had the ability to dress in outfits like these everyday, I would happily go outside, and make some copains. The simple stripes, colors and runway define the stereotypical 'fashionable' girl. With the Parisian chic theme (yes, I really did just say Paris), and effortless walk, I could not fault anything in this show. The use of different textures in each outfit made me ridiculously happy, mainly because it always makes an outfit more exciting if there are embellishments. I always feel as if it makes an outfit look more sophisticated, more exciting.
Fay
Another show I would happily wear most clothes from. The monochrome look is definitely in for next year, thank goodness! I absolutely love the basic colors, despite all the complaints I receive from people about wearing them. They're classic, who can argue with that?
To me, Fay screamed Morocco. The patterns, the intricately weaved jackets, the little pops of colors, all mimic the affluent Middle Eastern and North African cultures. As the world become more globalized, I do predict that these styles will be a permanent staple in every Western wardrobe. The gorgeous patterns and cultures deserve to be spread, and the local fashions are something everyone should experience.
MaxMara
The stars and stripes take Italy! This nautical collection screams the Hamptons and Nantucket, which is in no way a loss. I can picture 4th of July, with people donned in these gorgeous prints! That's all I have to say, really...
Damir Doma
Similar to Les Copains, stripes, monochrome and class were all central to the clothing at the show. Even the runways were similar, but that is in no way a loss.
Here are some other pieces that were absolutely stunning! Overall, I cannot wait to wear some of these stunning trends....
