Isn't this just gorgeous?

After spending weeks cooped up on campus (illness, essays and arguably the world's most unusual 'sleep' cycle), a much needed trip home was needed. Instead of doing the usual 'lay in sorrow after saying bye to my besties' day, my flatmate and I decided to make the most of our Easter holidays and take a quick trip to Shoreditch. A first for us both, but definitely worth a repeat.

We started off the day at Victoria station, and took a pretty quick 30 minute tube and train ride to Shoreditch High Street. Citymapper is your best friend here - there was no way we would've gotten it right without this app. We used the overground from Whitechapel, and it was literally a 2 minute journey to the high street. Note to self - just because it looks sunny doesn't mean it's warm!

Nostegia bubble waffles!
I'm not going to lie, the main reason we went out was for food. My friend Mairisa had spotted these bubble waffles on Instagram, and as soon as we saw them we were dying to go! They have a branch in Soho as well, but it is shut right now. The waffles themselves are absolutely divine - worth the wait in the cold! Each one is freshly made and prepared with toppings of your choice. I opted for one with cookies, whipped cream and Nutella, but they have 'healthier' options too.

Due to the chilly weather, we needed a place to hide out. Next to the waffle stand is a lovely stall indoor hut - ideal to eat in! There are plenty of other stalls in the area, ranging from Mexican to Italian, and tons of dessert. Perfect for the warmer weather!

Everything in the area is extremely artistic, with gorgeous murals and graffiti sprawled around on every corner. You can even spot some Banksy tucked away behind the high street. Each tag is stunning, and I would definitely recommend spending a bit of time exploring the streets. Not one to miss!

It was a fantastic day, by far one of the most wonderful ones I've had in a long time. I adore exploring the city, and would love your recommendations on which area to head to next.

Have you visited Shoreditch? Are there any other areas of London you would suggest?
