Staple Jewelry
20:00:00Tiffany and Co. Enchant™Round Pendant in Sterling Sliver, Medium |
After stumbling upon an article on Vogue.com by Emma Watson's stylist, I thought I would share my 'staple jewelry' with you. I found the article to be an amazing representation of the way we should see fashion, and since I haven't got the best personal style at the moment (I need to get a few more statement pieces!), I decided to focus on my day to day jewelry. The watch, a bracelet, necklace and earrings. One or two classic items is all you need!
"I definitely have an emotional attachment to the stories of clothes and especially to jewelry. I wear the same jewelry 90 percent of the time: a collection of personal rings I’ve been given by loved ones that are all small and dainty, a bracelet all my girl cousins and I got that have our initials—it makes me feel close to them. And then my Nonni (who is really the one who inspired me to get into fashion) gave me this very precious necklace that was special to her. I had it redone and has that diamond heart-shaped stone put on a long chain and I wear that every day underneath my outfits." - Sarah Slutsky for Vogue
Bracelets
Even though bracelets aren't the most convenient thing to wear (between the constant writing and typing it becomes kind of difficult to wear things on my hands), I always wear my Pandora bracelet. I used to wear a Links one as well, but I felt that the Pandora was much lighter and had a more emotional significance. Each charm was bought by someone in my family, mostly for birthdays (fun fact- I got the bracelet as a birthday gift after being in awe with my aunts), so there it is definitely something I'd like to keep on my wrist. My other favorite bracelet is from Kate Spade, and I love to wear it whenever I go out. It says stop and smell the roses, and is in rose gold. Every time I read the idiom, it's like a reality check. Maybe it really is just time to relax.
Earrings
I have endless earrings lying around in my room, so many that I sometimes end up finding them on the floor (oops). As a general rule of thumb, I always wear studs. I have a secret fear of my earring holes (is that what you call them?) expanding and turning into one giant line, so light studs it is! My mother brought me the evil eye earrings from Istanbul on a trip to the city a few years ago, and I have been wearing them ever since. For more formal events, I love wearing the double pearl earrings. Whilst they are light and comfortable, they still look fancy enough to wear to big events, much like Emma Watson did a few years ago!
Necklace
This Tiffany necklace holds so many memories. I bought it in New York with my mom, and have been attached to it ever since. It's perfect for the endless stream of black I wear, and goes with my typical silver jewelry.
Watch
Now, this watch is a family heirloom. It's vintage, and has gone from my grandmother to my mother to me. Even though it's had a few issues (like the time I pulled off the stopper that changes the time) it's by far my favorite watch. It goes with most jewelry, tells you the date and time, and is just the right size!
Let me know what your favorite 'staple' jewelry is, and maybe a wish list could be coming your way soon!
